It's difficult to credit the actions of the UCPD cops who resorted to Tasering a student (youtube.com) who, against regulations, was in the college library without student ID and was reluctant to leave. The student should not have refused to leave but I doubt the announced review will allow what appears to be current UCPD practice to go unreproved.

It is even more difficult to credit Kathy Shaidle who considers herself a Catholic rebroadcasting this intolerant cackle of glee:
Let's see more of this… Police taser UCLA student for behaving like a jackass. My God, this cannot happen often enough. Do you have any idea how happy it makes me to watch a black cop taser a college student who is being a huge, whiny baby and screaming "This is an abuse of power!" (No, it's the violence inherent in the system.) And just when you think this story can't get better, there's a hilarious video. Screams of anguish never sounded so beautiful.

What makes this even better? His name is Mostafa Tabatabainejad, hereafter to be spelled Mustafa and depicted wearing a fez as the Austin Powers character with a word balloon reading, "Oh, the pain is really quite severe!"


Note to Kathy: this is what Jesus would do. Don't take my word for it - take his:

ADK version not updating in SCCM

 I recently updated the ADK on my SCCM server to current, but the ADK version in SCCM (Boot Images, Upgrade Distribution Points) remained stubbornly at 10.0.19041 and I could not access the Drivers tab on my boot image (which is what happens when your image and your reported ADK don't match). Various repairs, reboots and general hacking and slashing came to nought. What did work in the end was running Start, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, Configure ConfigMgr Integration and take the default (for me) option to remove the MDT extensions (console extensions only). After running that, the ADK version matched up.

Garda drivers and the "duckworthing" of Emma McAleese

Would the Independent Group please make up its mind? Either it wants to treat someone like a socialite (Indo May 2004, rego req.) or as a layabout who can't be bothered commuting like her ESB colleagues (Sindo this morning). Questions about the use of garda drivers over the years have been numerous (including their adherence or lack thereof to speed limits) and previous reports had suggested civilianising the cabinet ministerial drivers and "courtesy" drivers such as those for ex-Taoisigh and retaining police drivers only for security needs - there was also controversy about provision of a driver for the State Pathologist. While the swiftboating (albeit belatedly) of Mary McAleese is ongoing, now her daughter will pay for it. What might Joe Cordiano's appointment mean for Toronto transit?

Joe Cordiano, Liberal MPP for the York South-Weston riding has replaced Greg Sorbara as political minister for Greater Toronto. With the upcoming Liberal budget and leaks of funding for the Spadina line, the appointment of a nearby MPP may be significant - it is also interesting that Cordiano's constituency also includes Weston through which the intended Blue 22 service to Toronto Pearson may run. Personally I would have preferred to see GO Transit given that route, with a stop at Bloor to access the subway rather than non-stop to Union.
